Contraindications to Taping
There are certain instances when the application of taping and strapping are not applicable. These are known as contra-indications.
Some of the key contra-indications to taping and strapping are:

Acute injuries (where there is a risk of swelling)

A swollen, irritable or painful joint

Abnormal skin sensations, allergies or hypersensitive skin

Open wounds
Considerations must also be made regarding:

Taping on or over pressure/friction points

Taping as a substitute/aid for rehabilitation purposes

Not restricting circulation |
