I challenge the adminitrators of this forum to ask that we all reveal our identities and stop this inter PA jockeying for top spot, I say again WE ARE ALL IN THE SAME INDUSTRY..........
st1417
As admin, this is something that we are currently looking into doing, however at present I believe that users have the right to remain anonymous should they wish. Those who wish to reveal some background information on themselves are invited to do so within the relevant forum thread

I debated your statements as they were contradictory to what I have heard! At the recent conference it was suggested that regulation in England would be in place by 2012, but that it was highly likely that the system would be in place in Scotland at an earlier. 2012 has been the date circullated byt the SST for a while.
[/quote]
And I stand by what I have said that HPC have stated it will not take place in the anticipated timeframes. Would it be so difficult to contact the HPC to ask them? I have posted their contact details on here. I would and will continue to challenge anyone that comes on these forums with 'unofficial' statements regarding regulation. There has been so much misinformation going round for years that I dont listen to anyone other than the HEALTH PROFESSIONS COUNCIL. I will say it until I am blue in the face....they are the ones in charge of regulating sports therapy...no one else!
I for one fully support regulation, I wasnt happy to hear what the HPC stated, as we have already waited years and years...I for one was told it would be in place in 2009, and as such spent a considerable amount of money redeveloping training courses etc etc etc...
I agree with st1417...these forums are great for people who want to remain anonymous, cause trouble, and then disappear, only to re-appear at a later date as someone else. If you (fluffyangel) took offence at me saying waste of space and pointless, if you were someone who was accountable, then I would not have said that, but as you are just a nickname, then that is a different matter. Its easy to debate as an anonymous person, but check my details, and you will see that I am not! I think if people on this forum remain unaccountable then I will delete my profile (which will probably make some of you happy).
Just picking up on st1417's points re PA's working together, I work with 12 PA's, to ensure that we are all working together, unfortunately not all PAs want get involved but that is not to say they are not consulted.

I would say that most people on this forum know who I am, but I am only passing/commenting on information that I have heard from "people in the know", so what who I am has to with anything I do not know. I debate your comments and you launch a personal attack...

but you dont debate....you say that what I am saying is 'codswallop'....or that I am 'scaremongering' is that not a personal attack on me? Of course it is, you are attacking my motives and integrity, and actually if we want to break it down, you are accusing me of telling falsehoods. You use 'hearsay' from 'people in the know' to try to do it!
'people in the know', who are these people? I am someone in the know, and as I keep saying, I get my information from the HPC, and even though I continue to suggest you do the same, you ignore this.
You know what bothers me, that people pass on this 'hearsay' as fact, and cant back up what they are saying, and then other people are influenced on this.

According to my sources alot of the information you have posted on here is a load of old cobblers!
sorry you didnt say codswallop....you said a load of old cobblers...... it doesnt matter if someone else said this to you about me, you passed the information on without finding out facts, so therefore you are responsible for saying this about me.
On the other posting regarding HPC regulation, you stated that I was scaremongering.
I would love you to quote your sources, so that I can contact them directly to ask why they are persisting in not quoting HPC policy.

I have just stumbled upon this forum and have been reading various comments made. I believe the conference mentioned was the recent one held this week in London with the Society of Sports Therapists; I think that certain individuals on this board summarise the current health professions industry in the UK - surely we should be sharing views in a positive fashion to speed up the regulation process, rather than slating each others views and qualifications?

Hi Jasper,
I agree, and if you go back to my earlier postings you will see that I was attempting to share information with this forum, information that I had been given by the Health Professions Council. I posted their contact details, and also part of an email they sent me.
Unfortunately this seemed to be jumped on and called scaremongering and a load of old cobblers.
I can understand that if someone is given information at a conference, you would expect it to be correct, however in my experience, not as a sports therapist, but as a businessman, I tend to go straight to the people who dont have a vested interest, for my information, and in this case it has always been the Health Professions Council.
I have no problem in taking flak, as long as the people flinging it can back up what they say.
My involvement in this industry is now vast, and if im honest, I never wanted to get as involved as I am, especially as a lot of the work I do is unpaid, and actually costs me money. The reason i do it is because over the years, I have made a very good living from sports therapy, and am now in a position to give back.
I will continue to fight, as i do, for sports therapy to be recognised in this country, and to stop the discrimination we see in sport and with insurance/health companies. With the support of 11 other Professional Associations, with members numbering approximately 25,000, we are seeing changes, but we cant be complacent, and that is why I post vital information on these forums.

I think that the information you have provided thus far has been extremely useful sportstherapy. unfortunately I am not currently involved in the industry as much as I would like to be, and am therefore a little out of touch with the developments of the ongoing HPC application. Just because some individuals appear not to value your facts, I personally have found your posts interesting and informative and would like yourself and other members to keep the rest of us updated with the developments made by the SST and other organisations.
I have been searching for a while for a sports therapy forum which is not full of a load of rubbish off-topic chat, and hope perhaps that this can be a centre-point for me to get updated with the developments in the industry until I move back to the UK
